Sagan Daniels

Not the Norm – Wednesday’s 7pm-9pm.
Sagan Daniels AKA Ziggy da Zeba. Tip toeing around the education and commercial wings of Break London (with the grace of a gazelle on ice), Sagan has managed to use his theatrical experiences to full advantage. Trained in the dramatic arts he has managed to mangle all of his transferrable skills into being a fully committed full time member of the Break team. From his humble beginnings as a snot nosed infant (see attached picture) he has always had aspirations of the big time, and hasn’t he landed on his feet! His Ape journey began with a trip to east Africa where upon he met Trevor and was infected by Ape’s ‘can do’ attitude. Quickly establishing himself on several course and the radio and film production side of things, Sagan rapidly entrenched himself in the fabric of both companies. Coming to terms with the prospect of becoming a future workaholic, Sagan has many toes in many external pies; including the V&A museum, National Youth Theatre, Kori Youth Theatre and two rugby clubs, which all attributes to his bipolar energy output. Ever the learning keen bean Sagan hopes that, all that he has been and all that he is will feed into making him the best person that he can be! Developing talent revitalising the industry…long live Not The Norm

Sweetboi
Hot and Sweaty with Sweetboi aka Daniel Defoe – Wednesday 1am-2am
My show is based on slowjamz and r n b… keeping it hot and sweaty for the ladies and madam… perfect for any atmosphere that takes them into their own mind… My inspiration comes from Jenny Francis.
I am very interested in slowjams, keeping the categories different, creating a story from the moment one steps from your home, onto the street, going into the club, and then heading home; lucky or unlucky. I also play the more emotional slowjams, that will put a woman on a different planet, and allow them to just listen and appreciate, such as Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, TLC.
An example may include, Craig David ‘Rendezvous’, ‘On My Way’ by Usher or ‘In Those Jeans’ by Ginuwine. What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done after 1am?

Nick Gray

The Emancipation Show with Nick Gray – Sunday 8pm-10pm
I have been a music fan for many years dating back to the mid 1980s – mainly soul, boogie, R’n'B and jazz-funk back then but have kept my eye on a wider-world of music since the mid-90s. The Emancipation Show started as a no-music podcast review for 18 months. It rose to over 200 listeners a week. The radio version has been going for over 2 1/2 years now, attracting a bigger audience from those wishing to hear something deeper from the world of pioneering and soulful music, incorporating adventurous artists from the fields of electronica, jazz, experimental, world sound. In the second hour, a special journey into leftfield dance music in the uninterrupted mix hour with guests from around the globe.
Listeners have been tracked from Argentina to Russia. Josh Milan from the legendary house group Blaze has called the music on The Emancipation Show as ‘life-changing’. Those wishing to send related music are welcome to do so through www.soundcloud.com/emancipation.
Simon McKay

Post Punk Britain Sunday – 10pm – 11pm
Simon McKay’s enthusiasm for music was clear when at the age of 15 he began publishing his own fanzine, ‘Eccentric Sleeve Notes’. He wrote about the bands he liked who came to his home town – Newcastle – between 1981 and 1984. He moved on to DJ in clubs and form the band, ‘Said Liquidator’. Thirty years later, now relocated in London, his enthusiasm for music remains: he presents a Tuesday night show on Break London at 10pm called ‘Post Punk Britain’. ‘Post Punk Britain’ plays the music Simon loves from the late 70s – the raw punk music that broke through in 1977 and the more developed sounds of post punk that followed (circa 1979 to 1982). As a counterpoint, each show includes a peppering of Jamaican and UK reggae from these eras. Simon’s interest in music is broader than ‘Post Punk Britain’ would suggest: he presents other one off shows on Break London, usually with Fenella Fielding, based around soul and gospel music. Simon is involved in various writing projects and still interviews bands, usually for publication on his website www.eccentricsleevenotes.com
